Woodlands Theme Park

Woodlands in Dartmouth Devon, this has been our fifth trip to Woodlands and yet again the kids enjoyed themselves, If you are caravanning or camping at the woodlands camp site, the use of the park is free.
Some new stuff has been added to the park since we were last there and there is more new stuff being added at the moment.
The kids still love going to Woodlands Park and it has everything that a young family would need.
There are plenty of outdoor activities and several indoor ones as well if the weather turns bad the kids just do not seem to mind and have a great time.
If your Kids are between 2 and 16 and even some of the older ones this is the place for them to have fun. www.woodlandspark.com

The woodlands camp site has one of the best toilet and shower blocks that I have ever seen with separate family shower facilities if you need them.
There is a TV and games room and a small Take away, The shop has been re-vamped and moved to the car park entrance and now has all you should need.
There is no Club, Pub or disco so this makes it a nice pleasant site.
The other bonus is you are already on the site and the kids can get into the park early before it is open to the public and be first on all the rides.

Dogs are welcome on the site but not into the Woodlands Theme Park, there is a dog walking area and kennels if you wish to use them
The Birds of Prey show at Woodlands theme park are well worth watching and if you are lucky you may get a chance to hold one of the birds.

Other places to visit near Dartmouth

Take a 20 minute trip into Dartmouth where there is plenty of shops to look around or just sit and watch the boats go by. You can take the ferry across the river, Go on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway amongst other things.

Dittisham

A great place to take the kids Crabbing is at a place called Dittisham also a nice little pub called the Ferry Boat Inn is near by.
Anyway just here is a small Boat launching area were Crabs can be caught by the plentiful.
A good tip to get lots of them is to use a crab line attached to a small net bag of some type with some Bacon or Ham inside. The type used for washing machine tablets are spot on for this, You can catch several Crabs at a time this way.
The Wife spent the time sat outside of a small Cafe opposite the Ferry Boat Pub enjoying Cream Tea's and some other wonderful cakes that they had on offer.
Across the river Dart by a boat trip here, is the writer Agatha Christies Estate, follow this National trust link for more information

Not far from the woodlands camp site is a nice Pub called the Sportsman which does great food and has a family room.
Approx. 9 miles down the road is a place called Dartington, Map
which is a small shopping complex, Ok for the Kids for an hour or Two (For the Females a bit longer.)

Totnes Is a very interesting place with some unusual shops, find the main street and you will have a good time walking up and down here.
Also at Totnes there is a indoor swimming pool but check timings before you get there.

In Totnes is a place called China Blue next to the petrol station.
Great place to take the kids on a wet day, They can paint various pieces of ceramics in their own designs and then have them fired and posted to you when ready.
Can be a bit costly so check total cost first. Still a good place to look around.

A Good place to eat in Totnes is the Steam Packet Inn Good food, Nice view of the river and very helpful staff. On the other side of the river is The Smugglers Inn which is good too.
A Bit further away is The Globe Inn at Frogmore. (click the link for a map) They made us feel very welcome here and we had a wonderful meal and time.

Plymouth is not to far away and has a good fun swimming pool with ice skating both under the same roof and is worth a day out.
For your Camping or Caravanning needs there is the outdoor experience at Ashburton on the A38 if you forget anything like I did.
