Newquay

Newquay the surfing paradise of the West (so they say)
This was our 2 week holiday in August 2003, where we stayed at a camp site just outside of Newquay called Treverrian Holiday Park, it is near Water Gate Bay beach which we found was a great beach.

The Treverrian camp site which is not far from Newquay has all the basic amenities that you would need, Shop, Swimming pool, Small club house, Amusements, Play area for the kids, Tennis court and a nine hole Pitch and Putt course, and it is not to far to travel to Newquay.

The Treverrian site also takes dogs and has a dog walking area at the top of the camp site. Just outside of the camp site 2 minutes walk, there is a nice pub which name eludes me. This pub does nice meals at a reasonable price and some nice take away food if you do not fancy cooking.

We did not spend any time on Newquay beach as this can get a bit crowded, The beach we spent most our time on was at Watergate Bay approx. 1˝ mile away from the camp site, Nice wide and long clean beach, plenty of space for all, Dogs are allowed on this beach and it has some nice shallow surf for the kids.

Newquay's main Surfing beach, Fistral Beach can get very crowded but is good beach to go to with a selection of surfing shops nearby and a restaurant take away.
Porth Beach is another good beach for families just outside of Newquay it is a long narrow beach when the tide is out. (no dogs)

One place to visit is Shires, which is a Shire Horse centre although there is not that many horse there but it has a good large play area for the kids and lots of other things to see and do.
The kids loved the Adventure Park and would of stayed there all week if the could, so well worth the visit to here.
Cornwall Gold centre is a good free place to look around with things for the kids to do, like panning for gold or gems, pottery making.
See Trewhiddle

Newquay Zoo is an other place to visit as well as the water world swimming pools next to the Zoo.

On the way into Newquay is a pub called the Maverick which is quiet during the day time but busy on an evening time, but does very nice meals.
