Things to do places to visit away from Bristol

Place around Bristol.

This page is about places that have been long days out for us. Family days out, for example for our trip to London we left at 8am and did not arrive back home again until 10:30pm. We planned the day well and got to several of the sights that we had not seen before. Check the link Visit London

Cotswold Water Park is Britain's largest water park with 133 lakes.
The water park is a great place to visit and you can come back time and time again and discover new things to do.

Old Down Country Park is not to far out of Bristol and is another place with lots of interest and things to do.

Alton Towers is only my opinion of the Place. E-Mail me with your comments, and maybe comments of other places. Alton Towers

Legoland great day out if you have young Kids, although a bit costly well worth it for the first time and may be a second time. It is well worth going just to see all these models made out of Lego and marvel at what has been done and can be made from Lego.
There are other rides here for all to go on, as well as plenty of other things to see and do

Woodlands can be done as a long day out and is well worth place to visit, we have now been to Woodlands Five times now and will be visiting Woodlands again according to the kids. Check it out on this link Holidays

Paultons Park which is near Southampton is also a good place for the kids, follow the link to Paultons Park

Alton towers has all you need for a good family day out except for the queue's.
for the 8 hour's that we were there I only went on 5 of the big rides due to the queuing times. I think it works out for the cost £4.50 per ride (cheaper at a fun fair) or another way of putting it if each ride lasted 2 minutes on average, You get 10 minutes of ride time 5 hours queuing and 1 hour 50 minutes walking from place to place.
If you have got younger kids go for all the smaller rides, there are less queue's so you will get more rides in the time you are there.
Take a picnic to keep cost down.
We travelled up the afternoon before and took our caravan and stayed at a camp site just 5 minutes from Alton towers. This way we did not have to face a 3 hour drive and early start before we got there.
The site is a basic site which served its purpose well. You need to be at Alton towers for around 8am just to join the car parking queues, then the queues to pay to get in for around 10am.

Perhaps they should call it Alton queues? Any way a good day can be had by all. Check the Pictures.

LEGOLAND We have been to Legoland twice now and on both visits we have had a good time. It is geared more for the younger children but it is a good family day out and there is several things for the older children.
The models that have been made up are great to look at and you wonder how some of them have been made. The models of different countries in the world are very good and very life like.
There are several other things to see and do at Legoland it may be a bit on the costly side to get in, but in my opinion and the kids opinion it is well worth the visit.
